Default Places to get exhaust decibel test?
I am trying to help out my customer who would like to have his exhaust tested. Anyone know of a reputable place to have this done?

Didnt think it matter how loud it was. If its not stock its not legal.

This man is correct. The noise level doesn't matter. If the exhaust isn't factory or factory replacement, it's illegal.

Unless we're talking specifically about some sort of noise ordinance, it doesn't matter.

I swear I don't understand why you guys in VA just don't give up and drive Hyundai's. The laws are so overwhelmingly stacked against you in that state and they just love to take your money. If you were a true car enthusiast, you'd move to a more car-friendly state I'd think.

Dont know how accurate this will be but i have a scosche db meter. I got it from walmart about 3 months ago. I have used it to measure my exhaust and it's pretty accurate.If your friend wants to use it he is more than welcome to. It's about 15 dollars at walmart here is a link below.

Bingo. The guy has a Subaru SPT exhaust which is an option at the dealer and port that has been tested and 50 state legal on noise. The judge found him guilty because he did not have anything in writing from VA that the noise level meets VA requirement. he did bring in paperwork from Subaru though. So he just wants a test for himself so if he does get pulled over again, he has a paper trail that it is legal.
