Cool Need my LED - LCD 240hz 55" TV - Calibrated -

I am looking for someone in the Richmond area who works at say comcast, bestbuy, or another type of cable/electronics store who can professionally calibrate my tv. Best Buy wants like $200 bucks to send the "geek-squad" out to the house. I would rather give someone the side money directly for a good price. If you are interested, let me know. Thanks.

Just go to an a/v forum and look up common settings for your TV. You won't be able to tell the difference between the stuff posted on there and a pro calibration.

QFT or just buy a calibration disc and DIY (they are only a few dollars, much cheaper than $200).

Thanks for all the info. I talked to Best Buy today and they stated they actually hook up a computer to the panel and erase the company's standard settings and then re-calibrates the tv with using a optical eye that is connected to the screen. He said that they only have 3 techs between Va. beach and dc that are trained to conduct the calibrations. The rep also stated that the rep has to have 200+ hours of training before they can be certified. The rep said that calibrating the tv will also make the screen last longer than using some of the DYI dvd's that are out there.

LOL! I ran Firedog for the Richmond district at Circuit City. Training for calibration does not require 200 hrs. Its true that there is an optical eye hooked to the tv, but what that does is measure the light output from the TV vs. the ambiant lighting in the room. All the computer does is get to the TVs sub color menu, which allows you to control each color seperatly. I would do this for you but our Spyder 3 tool is not working proplerly. I will have a new one soon. And just FYI we charge $150.
