Meet locations

We are looking at having a large meet in the central area.

What we'd like to know from you guys is where would be a good place to have it?

Basically, what we need is a large parking lot what we can get permission to use. A park would be nice, as well, but it would have to be something that could accommodate all our cars.

We'd like to have this meet around April 15th. Please post up and ideas you may have for a meet. Once we can nail down a location.

We appreciate your help.

-Tim

Do you mean Central as in Richmond only or extending out to the Charlottesville area?

Re: Meet locations

There's a park here we used before, has grills/etc.

If we had an estimated turn out, we could see if it would work.

Re: Meet locations

We can definitely rent Rockwood Park. If not, Ironbridge Park is another viable alternative. Huegenot Park is smaller, but could also probably accomodate us.

Yeah People from nova, 757 and western va will be attending. Thats why we are picking richmond. The best thing would be something that is accessible or fairly close to 95 and 64.

Nic is Ironbridge close to 95/288?
If so that might be a good deal. We dont want something complicated to get too

288 goes through it and I think you can get to it from 95 through 85, but I might be wrong.

What the fuck is this all about anyways?

ironbridge park on ironbridge road is right beside the 288 exit.. and the 288 exit on I-95 is a quick way to get to iron bridge.. and they have a lot of big parking lots there and a lot of picnic areas.

Re: Meet locations

Tried to look up more info about Iron Bridge park on Chesterfield Co's website.

Only, their website sucks and the parl & rec page is under construction. Anyone have a number or some info on it?

That's a good one also. I always forget that exists. I'll see if I can dig up the number for Ironbridge. It's probably the easiest park to get to in the area although Rockwood is a little nicer.

Reservation fee is $80 per 24' x 24' shelter (all day rental). Each shelter includes between 9 - 12 picnic tables, a grill, and trash disposal. Reservations for parties of 150 or more are subject to $1 extra per person and require approval. Reservations must be made at least 2 weeks in advance. Once everything is decided on, I'll call and make the reservations and do what needs to be done to get the approval, as the rates are higher if the reservations are made by non-Chesterfield County residents, and it may be difficult for a non-resident to get approval for such a large event.

I personally prefer Rockwood park, as it's a lot nicer park. Ironbridge is probably by far easier to find.

Pole green park....

It's on the eastern side of town and the northern portion of 295.

Re: Meet locations

Ironbridge sounds good. Any estimate on the size of the parking lot?

We'd want to look at 200 people (at least, that's what we'll tell them), so about $130 to reserve it?

Also, could you ask if we can get a rain date or what the refund policy is if we need to cancel due to weather?

Do you have any info on the cost or lot size? I couldn't find any info earlier.

Re: Meet locations

i don't know that polegreen could easily support 200 cars with all the OTHER traffic it gets from soccer games, skate park, baseball, people crashing R/C planes, etc.

on top of that it only has one shelter and you have to take a gravel road to get there.

Re: Meet locations

Does Ironbridge have speed bumps? Rockwood does, but Patrick found a path around them for the cookout. Something to consider. I should be in town that weekend and should be able to make it (as long as my taxes have been completed by that time).
