Pulled the gear out of the closet today to see what I needed. Just need some more bait hooks and stuff and have to replace the son's fishing rod combo.

yea i dont know how to use half that stuff. tried goin out there today and it was another bust. The Fuzz in Goochland ran me out of the lakes on WestCreek Parkway off 288, but the cop was cool suggested i check out this spot off 522 where people drop there boats in. this guy like 30 feet from me pulled in had to be close to 10lb largemouth

Amelia is OK, having a boat makes it a fishing spot, work the deep channels for crappie and i hear even a few walleye and drop big worms on the submerged timber lines. A lot of it is hard to fish from the bank due to brush, the old ramp is a good spot for crappie, as well as the dam. Follow the horse trails to the north and wrap around to the west side for more bank fishing. I've had good results with yo-zuri pin minnow's as well as most longer divers, i hear cranks and craws are good too.
Powhatan lakes are still recovering, it was stocked last year so don't expect lunkers. The powhatan ponds produce well if you know what to throw. The west pond, and central pond are a mixxed bag, were i hear the east pond is predominantly cats with a lower mix of bass due to limited cover and structure.
I'm out for smallies this year, but my most successful bait has been a watermelon/chartruse tail'ed 5in yum senko on a 3/0 worm hook (VMC preff.)

You talkin about the pond between the hotels or the larger lake. Google maps calls it Redwater Lake
