Kind of hard to screw it up with a hair dryer, unless you dry your hair with a heat gun.
It's not magic, it's simple thermal properties: heat expands the metal, and then rapidly cooling it shrinks it to the point that the dent pops out.
You can do the same for the plastic bumper covers when they get dented, heat with a hair dryer and pop it out with your hand from the inside.

I did an quick, amateur job on some dents on my roof left my a fat indian sitting on my roof. It took most of em out, I'm sure if I do a full job with right weather conditions it'll work all throughout. Im too lazy though, that is why he is paying for getting it fixed professionally.
