Well... The 3000GT is like the Eclipse's big brother here. In Japan the 3000GT is the GTO, so the little brother being the FTO makes sense?

I'm not sure, just guessing. Of course it's not a GTO here, wouldn't want to offend Pontiac or (more importantly) Ferrari.

PS- If you do have a 4g63, why swap the same motor in? The AWD -> FWD will be a bitch, try to get just whatever's different in the Lancer engines and put it in your current setup.

 

yeah and isnt the eclipse significantly heavier than the lancer? why put a lancer engine into a bigger, heavier car...you lose efficiency

ok, here's the deal:

your RS eclipse has a 420a, nto a 4g63. you will have to literally change everything but the body panels and the frame to put a 4g63 in it. EVERYTHING and i mean EVERYTHING is different between the 4g63 cars and the 420a cars.

the GTO/3kGT is trash for a race car. it's anice luxury touring car that looks nice and breaks more than DSMs do. can be beasts to a point but they hit a roadblock in the 10s. the money to get there could put 3 DSMs in the 10s. the motor falls apart after 400 hp.. the trannies can't be rebuilt..

the FTO looks good. i think it's quick. that's about it. it has absolutely nothing in common with the eclipse.

I never said the 3kGT was a great car. I don't like them at all.

 

it's called "only available in north america". US got all the DSMs, canada got the Talons. nobody else ever got them except a limited ammount in a few places in europe. there were also a few limited number of them imported to japan from the US. if you lived in japan and wanted an eclipse you had to special order it, and even then i believe it was hard to get.
