Friend of mine just got into UVA and is looking for apartments in the area. Gotta be able to smoke/have pets (cats), be pretty close to UVA/bus stops, under $500 a month.

There is a housing assistance dept at every school. They have listings. Often times they also have bulletin boards where students and locals may leave announcements for houses, rooms, and/or roommates. That will be a good place to start. As a first year student, living on campus with others is always best for that "college experience".

 

May also want to find out if she is willing to smoke outside to get a non-smoker place, and if the cat is spayed. Biggest concern is the carpets as smoke, uring, and cat "spray" are impossible to remove and require replacement.

there are no places close to campus that will allow pets. also if she is a first year she can't live off grounds i don't think.
