yes but its not a great idea to conspire with someone online on how you are going to commit a fraud against the state, big fines and big trouble.....sticking to pm's is the way to go ;)

I know where Phil is coming from. Merchant's is one of the worst places to get a state inspection done if you have questionable equipment. My old Turbo Coupe got failed because one power window switch was just barely slower than the other one. Had to lol about that one. Just doing their job, trying to sell repairs. BUT.. don't take your hot rod for an inspection there

Had a state inspection where the tech put my car up on a lift. WTF?!? He wanted to check out the (heavily) custom suspension and the exhaust setup.

All cars go on a lift for a few reasons. Inspection of exhaust(yes it still does get a visual), they also have to pull 2 wheels to inspect the brakes.

You shouldn't sound suprised about the lift Richard, you have the code of Virginia in your head;) and it states that.:D

Off the shelf Maximum Motorsports panhard and torque arm are far from heavily custom. But pimp nonetheless.

Phil, do you carry a line on Falken tires? 195/60/14 Azenis??

Woodrow 12-08-2004 07:32 AM

Re: 10-12 December

LOL@Kevin......I don't carry in stock, but I can get them from my supplier. We mainly carry in stock what most everyday customers need and want in a tire. However I do have a warehouse in Richmond and elsewhere where I can pull tires from if I need them.

I've been tinkering with the torque arm setup (how it attaches to the frame, axle) and pinion angle quite a bit over the past year and a half. Not happy with the setup at slower speeds. The back end is sloppy and does not handle as well as it should. May go back to the "off the shelf" setup. :)

Yeah, I read the Code of VA like others study porn, but without the whole masturbating thing. :o

Every other inspector just uses a floor jack or peers through the stock wheels to "inspect" the brakes and presence of catalytic converters. Mechanics get paid diddly for state inspections with no repairs to be made. That guy was just being an ass, looking to make some loot at the end of the month.

Because of how hard I drive my car (and my little bro is the lead mechanic at his shop), typically have the brake pad and rotor measurements in hand from a recent examination before even attempting to get inspected. Safety first! Paul and Kevin, probably many others who go to VIR/Summit Point/etc, get their cars looked at quite often as well because there is a pre- tech sheet to be completed before the track tech. :)

Re: 10-12 December

Phil, do you have a contact in the tire biz to get 40" beastly truck tires for Tim O? He was looking around for a set last time I heard. My little bro is trying to get his F350 lifted and wants to slap on some 35" tires under it.

You know I'm trying to get there! Been to VIR twice and am addicted. Purchased the new home so I'd have a garage to work on the car, haha!

The Sean Hyland 318 engine hasn't seen the track yet, the stock one tanked at Summit Point because of the $&@# oil issues with the modular engine. Front suspension is where I want it to be (except the k-member s still on my wish list) but the rear suspension is total crap right now.

All the ones I have seen have put it on a lift including ones I took my car too. Our inspectors get paid .5 for every inspection they do.

As for 40 Inch tires I can try and find out. We do carry flotation size of 35" tires, mainly BFG All Terrain KO and Mud Terrain.

All those that sent me inquries about tires i will pm you so you get the info, rather than divulge it on here.

Got it Richard. I will check with the suppliers on the other rims and tires for you. As for the Mount and Balance, the highest we can do is 18's. Our Machine aren't capable of doing anything bigger without damaging them.

Being your Vette does come with run flat options(not sure if thats what you have on) I got both prices.

166 for the run flats and 132 without for the front tires
229 for the run flats and 186 without for the rear

Sam- I am looking at 163 for the tire.

Richard I have some prices on your rims, but I left those at work. I need tire brands as well. I hope I didn't forget anyone. I have 10-15 inquiries plus a few F-Bodies and Cobras coming in as well on top of normal customers I see. If I do forget you, please pm me.......
