Default Are you a specific out put (horsepower/liter) fanboy? You think OHV is archaic?

Just a couple of pics to showcase an often debated topic. People love to preach horsepower/liter w/o realizing that it's irrelevant. What's more important is power/pound of the powerplant, or more simply power/overall size.

Here's the 5.0 OHV in the Panoz

Here's the 4.6 DOHC in the same car (sorry for the big picture)

Specific output is irrelevant as you can clearly see the "smaller" 4.6 motor is massive in comparison to the "larger" 5.0.

So are you asking is the 5.0 better than the 4.6?

Is it because the engines are black?

I'm not asking anything... just illustrating the fact that specific output tends to be an irrelevant argument.

People often loose sight of the fact that overall size of the motor is more important than displacement.

Here's a better picture...

The 4.6 4v makes 100 more hp than the 5.0

The weight of those 2 motors are about the same, If i remember right the 4.6 is just a bit lighter than the 5.0.
