Sweet..

Put that TKO on a scale, I want to see how much it weighs. Probably less than a T56 I'd imagine.

Nice upgrade. Did you get to pick specific gear ratios? or are there limited versions?

According to TTC the TKO is 105 lbs, T56 is 108-137 lbs depending on what version you have.

Standard other than getting to pick a 0.64 or 0.82 5th gear. Went with the .82 of course. Custom gearing is available, but at considerably added cost. The "standard" gearing was perfectly fine for this application.

There are few different combinations of the TKO available. First of all, there are two models, the TKO-500 and the TKO-600. The TKO-500 is a wide-ratio transmission, which means it has a low first gear and there is a relatively wide ratio gap from gear to gear. The TKO-600 is a close-ratio transmission, which means that it does not have as low of a first gear, but there is less of a ratio change from gear to gear. There is also an optional version of the TKO-600 with less overdrive than the first one. The ratios are as follows, listed starting with first gear and going up through fifth:

TKO-500: 3.27:1, 1.97:1, 1.34:1, 1.00:1, 0.68:1, 3.00:1 reverse
TKO-600: 2.87:1, 1.89:1, 1.28:1, 1.00:1, 0.64:1, 2.56:1 reverse (0.82:1 optional fifth gear)

Been doing lots of welding getting it ready for powdercoat. Lots of old rivet holes... about 2/3rds done. Plus more parts have come in.

Fortes plugs for the speedometer sensors. The driver's side is the mechanical gauge port and the passenger side is for electronic (If you haven't figured it out... not running a speedometer).

What is the benefit of a pinion mounted alternator? RPM stays lower longer?

I already had a pulley on the yolk so I figured why not put it back there. Plus the battery is already right there and it's a one-wire alternator so it just makes install simple. The engine will only have a water pump on it

A lot of people try doing this on street cars for dumb reasons like making a cleaner bay, etc. but soon realize the alternator doesn't turn enough RPM's to charge a battery poking around town.

Won't be an issue at race speeds.

ever figure out what happened?

I know someone with a diesel powered Panoz, really would like to see that thing run

All signs point to the Engine block being too weak for the power. It distorted and the main webbing failed which allowed the crank to snap.

Replaced the LS1 springs with GMPP LS6/2/3 springs and installed Smith Brothers restricted flow pushrods... shiny new stuff...
