Unfortunately I wasn’t there to witness, but from all accounts, a gentleman was about ready to climb into his super sweet LS1 swapped FD RX-7 when something went awry. The car started, and being it was left in gear, started to jolt forward. In addition, the throttle apparently malfunctioned, pinning to wide open. The car proceeded to fly through the parking lot, hitting a few motorcycles, someone’s Shelby GT-500 vert, and a bush before plunging into the frigid waters of the Great South Bay, owner inside. Witnesses described the incident as pure chaos. Attendees who weren’t close enough to see it figured it was some tool doing a burnout…until they heard the crashing and splashing that followed.
