Would this pass
Having 3 cars, in my years of getting them inspected ive never ONCE had a single inspector look under any one of my car's for a cat.
One of my cars lacks a cat. Is what i said the right advice? Probably not, but in my experiences i guess i have "good luck"
those are the inspectors that keep their license for a year, get fined, lose it, then get it back, then do it again. aka the ones that have us have to do a bunch of bullshit to stay licensed.
yea i hear its super hard. like a trooper will just call up and be like what is blah blah blah, and you have to know, or something like that.
not really, the big thing is we have to be on the game all the time due to the fact we never know if the car coming in is a customer or if its a test car that they run through to check the inspectors out.
bait cars can and do come through, it all depends on the area as to how often they come in.
as far as knowing the manual back to front, its a good thing to be able to, but they want you to be able to consult it if you have a question. like all things in life, no one person knows everything, but the ones that know how to find the answers have the upper hand.
are you referring to VA motor code, the state inspection handbook, or the federal law that makes it illegal to modify or replace any currently functioning emissions device?
VA motor code is in two sections if i recall, but i dont have a copy in front of me to reference you to.
VA state inspectors handbook is in section 46.2-1048. page 310-1 if you have a manual in front of you, or you can reference it on the VASP website.
which, by the way, alot of the ebay universal "high flow" cats are illegal according to the EPA and also by VA code, but most of the time they are ignored, cause most people dont know how to reference their manufacture number and verify if its the correct flow rating for the vehicle, along with making sure that the catalyst is the appropriate style for the vehicle.
