i got an 04 jetta 2.slow and its running lean
i took out my spark plugs and the electrode was white so im gueses that indicates its running lean?! help me out here people... nothing is done to the car its all stock.

What else was the car doing that makes you think it is running lean?

 

i dunno the guys i live with were messin with it and 1 issue is that its either leaking oil or burning it. then 2 on the oil cap it had some white sludgey stuff but im thinking just a lil moisture no big deal then 3 they were changing the spark plugs and on the electrodes it was white and to my knowledge that means its running lean?! maybe, i could be wrong.

 

How long have the spark plugs been in there?

 

If you have white sludge in your oil you have way bigger problems than just runngin lean.

Replace the plugs, change the oil and run it for a week. Keep an eye on the oil level and see if your car smokes on acceleration. Blue is oil, white is coolant.

 

the sludge was stuck on the oil cap not in the oil and i guess its hard to explain cause i wasnt quite sludge it was almost hard but not i dunno... but the spark plugs have been in there for like hmm... 20k miles or so.

 

that was prolly just condensation...

well the oil is changed so are the plugs soo i guess we will see if i have to fork out lots of money for stupid german engineering... lol
