Default Why do some cars have white smoke?

i dont think this matters, but i was driving down the road today and noticed some cars have white smoke coming out of the exhaust, looks like condensation being burned off, most cars dont, my car has white smoke for the first few mins till its warm. but i see some cars always has it.

why?

Its condensation in the exhaust. It goes away after the exhaust gets heated up.

The ones that always smoke white even when the car is warmed up means that they are burning oil.

umm.. Mine smokes white after the car is warmed up during the colder days. This started after I installed the offroad x-pipe. No loss of oil and water either. Anyone care to explain that?

same thing, just condensation burning off. it doesn't have to be EXTREMELY cold like it was this morning, just a temperature difference between the really hot exhaust and cold aluminum and outside air.

sometimes there is more condensation when water builds up in the exhaust and pools either in the pipes or the muffler. that's why people with very short commutes end up buying lots of exhausts, their cars never run long enough to burn off all the water, the water sits in the exhaust and eventually rust forms.
