MSF (Motorcycle Safety Foundation) offers classes at your local community college. Even if you already know how to ride, I still recommend you taking the class.

try to find someone to let you try out their dirtbike. same concepts, and a little less risk involved. thats how i learned and i'm glad i took the little spill that i did on grass and not asphalt.

Its not that difficult. If you understand how to clutch, and you can ride a bicycle. I taught myself to ride a dirtbike when I was about 15. Buy a book. Up for first gear. Down Down Down for other gears. Back up for neutral.

Your best bet, is to get a cheap older bike, and start with that. Gain a respect for it first. TNCC offers a class, you can get your license that way. BTW, you have to have a M-class license to register and insure a bike in your name. Once you get some experience, then get you something nice.

I tought myself when I was 11 on my dirtbike... same as a car but you clutch with your hand and shift with your foot. Same principles though.

Now hanlding and braking etc are a different story.
