i see quite a few of those mr2s around...i dont know how many actually are worth a damn though...and there USED to be a saying for fieros.....in every fiero you would find packs of marlboro reds and a guy with a mullet driving it....(haha) they are a wanna be ferrari/ mr2 ...but MOST of them are just garbage...

i don't know... i like fieros. just because they're different from the usual domestic sports car mold. i have a friend who's owned several and they've always been interesting cars to me. i've seen a few with lt, ls, and 3800 swaps.

theyre big, heavy, mushy, and slow. I mean really? Any "sports"car that has a front suspension based on a chevette....just no. The SC MR2 (like mine) was faster then even the later Fiero Formula's. Now if it's engine swaps you're talking about, sure put a big, heavy engine in the Fiero. See what happens to your weight distribution then. Have fun in teh corners. Now a 3S-GTE swap in a AW11...thus making it a Mk 1.5 MR2...is sick nasty. but i digress this wasn't supposed to be an MR2 vs Fiero thread I just wanna find some other AW owners on here.

I've been through 10 fieros. . .

They were fun cars and easy to work on and could be made quick for not a lot of cash, which brings you to the main problem. A lot of fiero owners were cheap bastards. The '84s-'87's were decent, but '88 was the year to have (completely redesigned suspension) They started off as bargain commuter cars from GM parts bin/whatever they could grab that was already in production, so expecting them to be fast is asinine. The '89 GT which never made it to production was to come with the 3.4 DOHC motor rated for 240hp (where as the corvette of the same year was rated at 245 yet several hundred pounds heavier) Compare the ride of an AW11 and an '88 and its night and day, those MR2's could cause fillings to pop out.

But for not a lot of dough (under 2k) you can do a SC 3800 swap and have a fun little pocket rocket.

(my first 3800 swap)
