What happens if a VA driver gets a speeding ticket in another state? My friend got pulled for speeding 22mph over the limit in Colorado. She lives/goes to school in Colorado but has a VA license and tags. Any body know?

CO fines. I got a ticket for going 15 over in NC and had to pay their fines.

It'll be whatever CO says it is. It may or may not go on her license. Depends on if the VA and CO systems are connected. She's probably fine.

Yes, Colorado fines, Colorado points. Being that I've been ticketed in many states, let me explain my understanding of how it works.

Being every state has its own licensing and there isn't a federal drivers license; the points only apply for your driving priveledges in that state. I've got nine points in NC, eight points in AZ, and five points in VA, but I've still got my license when they usually suspend at twelve points.

The stickler is, insurance isn't going to care where the tickets or points come from. Most insurance companies do a nation wide search.
