On a cereal note, didn't those early 00s 911's have major problems with the IMS bearing and rear main seal? It's what scared me away from a boxster

Didn't read anything other than the title.
Lexus IS-F or new M3.

The boxster had more problems than the 996s. The 2002+ 996s are by and large fine. Technically all water-cooled ones have had that issue, it just depends on your tolerance. There are aftermarket solutions that don't cost that much that solve the IMS problem. The leak...well, it's a Porsche, that's just rust-proofing.
