We are looking at convertables and would like your .02...
The gf and I were talking and we the idea of a summertime convertable came up. I know nothing of them and would like vadrivens opinions on them.
Criteria:
Manual is a must, cost around 8k, easy to maintain ( I'm a pretty good mechanic though), and fun to drive.
A few questions/ concerns though. How long do the tops last and on average what is the repair/replacement like?
Those who have them... What's winter driving like with a cloth roof?
I don't plan on making this a DD but I may still want to drive it even if it's cold.
Thanks all.

My first choice would be a S2k, but I doubt you can find one around $8k. 2nd choice would be a Miata. I know nothing about verts, nor do I want one much BTW.
