If they don't show up, then some penalty is enforced by the dept.
Who's arguing here? I agree have scheduled court dates, and that penalties are imposed if they do not show (depends on judge). However, they still get overttime for being there.

Ok, I'm not disputing that. If you don't show then you get a bench warrant, and if they don't show then it's up to the judge. I know a retired officer who was issued a bench warrant for his arrest because he didn't show.

Yea its accurate I've been in the back of "the car" and watched the radar as people pass, I also asked the officer about it, he said that it catches the speed in all directions (sitting on the side of the road, passing oncoming cars, following cars ect...)

The whole radar doesnt work in the rain is bs much like most things we know about the police force.

I agree with the going to court and being polite, ive had several tickets reduced due to that, plus one time got lucky and cop brought wrong calibration(2001's in year 2003) and case was dropped. Dont count on cop not showing though..

I wish they would spend more time policing real crimes instead of fucking around with speeding tickets. Go after the assholes swerving in and out of lanes and not the guy staying his lane moving with the flow of traffic because he is a young guy in an import/sporty looking car. DAMN VA COPS

Speeding that could possibly result in a fatal accident? Especially with the kind of experience, or lack there of, that a lot of 16 year old high school juniors, in hatches with fart cans, have around here. There are cops that handle non-traffic related crimes, and there are cops that deal with traffic enforcement.

Yup.

Plus, this isn't CSI, shit like that doesn't happen, and when it does, they handle it, or attempt to.

I'm always polite when I pull over. And I have no problem with cops. They are people too.
