TITLE HELP!!!!!
are you planning on making it a road car or track car?? if track, than screw the title....if your goin to DD it, than you might just want to start thinking about scrapping that thing...it sounds like its goin to get expensive quick to get a ttitle, and if so....that thing cant be worth but a few hundred bucks or less...i would also look into the professor guy you bought it from....something seems shady about all of that... but i really have no clue on that legal BS
It's simple. Tell the previous owner that if he cannot produce a title then you want your money back and he can have the car back (minus the parts that you have already installed). If he doesn't want to do that then take him to court.
that actually sounds like a good plan to me...i would roll with that...
Never hand cash over without receiving the title right away, no if ands or buts. Next time you're in that situation, tell the seller you'll come back with the money when they have the title.
Yea but ive already paid my friend to put the engine in and ive put so much time in this. I really want to be able to drive it and see the power and handling it has. This car is in awesome condition, 7500 miles on it. good luck finding one with those low miles and suspension. But Im going to email him soon as i get his email.
What if my friend filled for an abandoned vehicle report and got the title for me and just sign the title over. Hes pretty trustworthy and I think it might work with a good story.
Go to DMV, have them check to see if the car is registered to anyone (sounds to me like you have already done this). Then once you have had it checked that it isn't, file a abandoned vehicle form for a new title. This whole process takes about 3-6 months, so be prepared to wait. DMV should be able to help, go ask them again.
Oh and your friend with the body shop is lying to you, he can do it probably just doesn't want to.

It's $10 for the legal registered owner to retitle a car in virginia. It's EASY, you just fill out a form, take take your ID and proof of registration paperwork to the DMV, and they hand you a new title. If the seller refuses to do this, they're either really damned lazy or very shady.
