main thing with the mkiii supra is that they tend to have lots of problems if the car was not taken care of. They blow headgaskets and some get rod knock from low oil as well. These are the two major problems with the car. Do you know if any of the previous owners put a metal headgasket on the car? I wish i could tell you how hard it is to change the oil pump but its been almost 3 years since i fully rebuilt my engine and i cant seem to recall how hard it was. Check out supramania.com because that is a forum for the 3rd gen supra and post there and im positive you will get plenty of helpful info over there.

So what other damage resulted from the broken oil pump? i would ask that question, and definitely have the oil pan pulled and main bearings inspected.

yea that broken oil pump worries me too. Wouldnt be too suprised if the car has rod knock. If the price is cheap like you said in the first post go ahead and buy it and rebuild the bottom end.

It spun a bearing, I wouldn't pay more than a couple of hundred.

Unless he killed the motor immediately upon noticing the rapidly falling oil pressure, then yes.

Which i really doubt....Loosing an oil pump would cause major havoc on engine internals.
