Default Subaru Impreza

In the market for a Subaru Impreza RS. I've found 2 that i'm interested in. This one is at a dealership:

http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/1109422266.html
2000 Subaru Impreza 2.5 RS AWD - $7900 with 117k miles

and this one is a private owner
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/1105549829.html
2000 Impreza 2.5 RS - $3900 with 168k miles

Now I know absolutely nothing about Subaru's and this will be my first venture into awd (outside of my Land Cruiser). Can I get some opnions. I know I'm going to be forwarded to NASIOC, but i figure I'd start here to see if it's worth it.

depending on the mechanical shape, the silver one seems like quite the deal.

Are you just trying to buy an inexpensive AWD car? What are you trying to gain after your purchase?

They are very fun cars and always fetch good money, ESPECIALLY in stock form as long as the body is in decent shape.

Their great cars. I almost bought one before the bugeye.

Id say, coilovers, wheels, tires, exhaust, tune and it'll be a blast.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Also, as you mentioned, register on Nasioc...theres tons of parts to be had on there.

I like the blue one...and thats about the price they go for. Much less milage as well.

ya they are alot of fun. muncher said it thats the list of parts i would go for. the blue one seems a little high on the price cuz i just sold a 2002 wrx for 7800 that had 135k on it but your best would be to take it to the subaru dealer thats down there and have them check it out before you even exchange any money.

The old RSs fetch good money because its hard to find them unmolested and in good shape. ~6-8k is about par for those cars in good shape with ~80-110k miles.

There is a old lady two houses down that has a MINT one. It's a teal/minty color. Worth anything? I've always liked the car because it was a cool looking color.

I've only driven one Subaru and it was a stock WRX (bugeye bodystyle). I'd like to build one myself but I like the older ones like this bodystyle.

Either that or a 'hawk?' eye one.

The silver one has kinda a lot of miles, but thats a pretty good price...and with a borla header is a nice extra. I have a '98 and I love it. I got it at 104k miles and a bad head-gasket for $5000. fixed the head-gasket and it runs great ever since. Even though its mostly stock, its fun to drive and its a great looking car. here is a picture of my RS from yesterdays autox at pungo.

Go check them both out. The BRP one looks mad clean though and has low miles. If your looking to spend less, then I'd check out the silver one, but if your looking for one thats clean and seems to have everything in working condition, as well as wanting to spend more, then I'd say the BRP one...

be sure to check out www.RS25.com too. You'll find some parts not listed on Nasioc and it has some good info on there that you might not find on Nasioc.
