The term "ricer" comes from the 70's when most of the guys that visit this forum weren't even born. Around that era in California the Asian guys started to hook up thier Toyotas, Datsuns and Mazdas. Back in those days weren't many Hondas around.
The asians guys hook up those cars with mostly engine modifications, some suspension and very little cosmetic work. Why they call them "ricer"? Well what is one on the main dishes on the asian people? RICE. The domestic guys started to call them "ricer" when they saw one with a nice hook up import; a term that has been taken out of context for many years. Next time you call somebody "ricer" think again. Probrably the car is just plain ugly and the owner stupid.
I hope that I didn't offend anybody with this explanation.
well people in the car show side of things would have a difference of opinion.....everyone has there own defintion of ricer.

there are alot of show car enthusiasts.....who do feel as strong about there cars as you do. doesnt make them rice. its not about makin it look fast, its about makin it look different, if your not into the show side of things you dont know what they are thinkin, just assumming. i personally like the best of both worlds. i like lookin at nice lookin kitted cars. if i wanna see stock lookin cars ill hit up a dealership lot. but to each there own
my take on rice: unpainted kits......tasteless wings...asshole attitude towards others involved with cars..... those that do things that get places blown up.....reving on people in middle of traffic and do a flyby only to screech tires not to hit car in front of them......i dont think makin a car look different is rice, as long as its done and seen till its finish. i think talkin about what you WILL run or WILL be gettin is rice. talk about what you got and can run now. i can go on forever about my side. but ill stop here.
