A question about rpms...
Ok, i have an 09 Si, im sure you all know that the rpms are from 0 to 9000 or so. and at about 6000 - 7000 the vtec kicks in... and i like to wind first and second out to get up fast... My question... is doing that a lot bad for the engine, will it not last as long, should i not do it very much unless i have to... And lastly, i got a ticket for 49/25 and i dont speed anymore... (i only went that fast for just a minute... lol) but will speeding up fast like that but not exceeding/not going more than five over... and making fast turns and stuff like that, can i get a ticket for that?
sorry its kinda long. Maybe the last question is not in the right section... idk
but any answer is appreciated..
Thanks!
~Tyler Si
ps - im not good with terminology so please explain.

Re: A question about rpms...
Maybe I missed it. What does this have to do with rpms?
But about your ticket... At the end of second how fast are you going? I know my celica redlined at 8000 and I was going about 60 at the point. So that would be speeding pretty much everywhere but the highway.. Also I’m almost positive you can get a ticket for accelerating to fast.

A.) Anytime you have a heavy load or are running higher RPM's on an engine, you're doing more wear and tear than you would be normally.
B.) Yes, you can get a ticket for 'fast acceleration' or 'fast turns'. Its called 'reckless driving'. I don't know the va code for it, but there's also another code for 'exhibition of speed'.

Re: A question about rpms...
Thanks RandomTask. But just another little question. my user manual say to go to second at 15mph (about 3500 rpms) is going up to like 5000 really gonna do that much wear and tear on my engine?? and does driving in a higher gear (mostly to save gas) also wear and tear the engine?

#1 not trying to be a dick, but its vtec...not vtech- they make phones and other electronics
#2 why would you wanna run your car up to 5000rpm's going 15mph anyway?

Re: A question about rpms...
im not saying that you should always shift at 3500 or anything like that, but i just dont see the point of constantly running the shit out of a nice new car. it may be fun, but everytime you do, you run the risk of hurting yourself, someone else, or ultimately causing serious damage to your engine over time.
