Question about buying a salvaged car
I am looking at trading my car for a jeep i went and looked at it today and while talking with the owner i asked about the title and he never said anything before today but today i found out it was salvaged bc it was hit in the rear deemed salvageable and thus given a salvage title once fixed. The guy was askin 6k for the jeep but it needs a new top bc the rear window is ripped and the driver side window is also torn. Its a se jeep wrangler 118k miles. My ?? is how much should i ask him to knock off the price seeing as its salvaged. In fair condition its kbb is 3700. They dont have a poor price which reflects salvage title or other things wrong.
The guy wants to trade for my car and 1200 cash for the jeep. Should i ask to trade straight up or should i throw less cash bc of the salvage title and how much less. Or stay away and find something else What would you guys do ?

i personally wouldnt touch a salvaged car just because you dont know how well it was fixed. they could've had a buddy half ass fix it and be certified to sign off on it

So it needs a new top, and has a salvage title, and the KBB value is $3700, and the guy wants $6k for it? Why are you seriously considering this? It sounds like a horrible deal.

Personally the only thing I'd even consider getting a salvage title on is a track car that was going to be rebuilt accordingly or if it was so cheap I couldn't pass it up (then I would have enough money left over to fix it up proper if need be).

Even then, you want to know EXACTLY what was wrong with it. The last thing I want to do with a track car is spend a ton of time making sure all of the suspension points are where they should be and that the chassis is straight.
