Proposition: Car club racecar contest
We (godspeed) have been talking about this for a while now. Here's the rules we drafted up.
The "Ghetto Racer Competition"
Since this is a ghetto competition, some of these tests may be done in abandoned parking lots, unless the contest picks up some steam and gets permission to use lots. Im sure Sung could flex some muscle and get us some places in the 757.
Post suggestions/comments.
The "Ghetto Racer Competition"
One car per club. Maximum budget of $1,200 INCLUDING the car. If the car used is already owned by someone on the team, Kelley Blue Book trade-in value (listed as fair) must be used.
The car must remain the same through all tests. Body panels, interior, tires, etc cannot be changed. Adjustable suspension can be changed, as well as tire pressure, boost, etc.
Tests:
Braking Distance: Get up to 60, hit the brakes when cued, measure the length. Shortest wins.
Slalom: Car that get's through a slalom course in the fastest time wins.
Show: Cars are judged by 3 neutral parties for appearance.
Autocross: Fastest time in an autocross course wins.
Drag: Fastest 1/4 mile time wins.
Club members only are allowed to participate. Un-paid work must be done by club members.
Cars must be in completed and at the site of the contest by October 4, 2003.

Edit: If this contest were to happen would this be like the Grass Roots Challenge where you could sell off parts and make money back to use or receive donated parts?

You cannot use an already modified car, because no matter how many mods you ahve on your car the blue book will not change on it. You have to start with an un-modified car

Yea, using something already modded gives to big an advantage.
It depends on how many clubs want to do it and if Drag could maybe secure us a place to do it. If not we could do it here in Richmond GungHo style lol
