dumb question, but will running open header for a day hurt u. Im only gonna do it for a day cause my bolts connecting my header to my exhaust broke.

i run open headers all the time, but my v8 is alil different then your 4 cyl.

my friend runs straight pipe on his 74 vette i cant stand it sounds like gunshots, fuckin nasty car though

It'll hurt your ear more than anything else, that's for sure..you wont be able to drive anywhere. Cops will follow you like there's no tommorow. Your engine won't blow up or anything, you might foul out a o2 sensor or something..that's all I can think of.
