Okay, it's down to 4 cars (poll)
Legacy - you can fix stereo problems cheaply and the power is there as well as great potential to mod, and awd. The 6 at the moment is just to hard to modify performance of.
I think I've decided a new GTI is not an option. They are too ugly. However the new GLI sports the same interior with a better looking exterior, so that will now take its place.
So far the scooby is one up. But I'm going to drive the new Jetta tomorrow when I get off work and make a final decision. Keep the votes coming!

Inusrance ruled out a new VW....
Surprisingly
The Legacy GT and Mazdaspeed6 are about 100 dollars less a month in inusrance then a GLI Jetta and 150-200 then a WRX which is def weird.
04 still in the running only because my payments will be about 100 a month lower...

Dang, the subie is starting to pull away. I voted for the Subie also, mainly because it does look better on the outside, IMO, and for someone looking to mod their car, it has a lot more potential. But to be honest, I wouldn't do much to either of these cars anyway. Just out of curiosity, isn't the back seat area in the Mazda bigger than in the Subie's rear.. For me the would play a big part.
BTW, how much are those GT Limiteds going for.
