Another one bites the dust. Hopefully the Charger will follow suit since neither car properly represent the essence of the originals. The Challenger or new Camaro may make ammends. We need a Hemi Cuda.

I think the GTO looks OK.........but they, like the Chargers, have received thousands of e-mails from people that were unhappy with naming something GTO which didn't look too much like the originals. Look what happened with the new Mustang....Challenger and Camaro concepts were soon to copy. I don't doubt the new Charger R/T isn't a blast to drive.....but a four door?

 

its ok the new GTO will be built on the new Camaro chassis
but hopefully it will be renamed Firebird

Speaking of turds, I find it hilarious that Toyota uses TRD as an acronym for their performance model. The only car they ever made half decent are Supra's. My point you ask? Just wanted to hear myself type.

 

For daily driving purposes, id take a toyota over a chevy anyday. TRD hasnt come out with anything good lately cept for the X-Runner which is pretty beastly

 

As someone who owns a GTO I think the people that are pissed about the name have no idea what the fuck they are talking about. The original GTO was 2dr, V8, rwd, decent sized coupe that was made to haul groceries or haul ass which is exactly what this car does. Everyone's only complaint is that it's a rebadged Monaro, when in the 1960's and 70's their Monaro was a rebadged GTO. If you look at the GTO compared to other GM's the build quality is far superior compared to other GM's made in the US.

Didn't we all talk about this about 3-4mos. ago. Shit when I bought this car I knew 06 was the last of them, it was planned from the beginning to be a short run car to give GM some type of sports car that was affordable until they could release a new Camaro.

BTW, it will be Camaro/GTO, no plans to revive Firebird name.I know why you don't like them. They don't need forced induction to actually go fast unlike your two rides.
