I have a test pipe on car ( previous owner ) anyone on here know of a place that will put a muffler on while over looking the test pipe? i have no quams about getting a cat, but i dont have the cash atm , they can get pricey... so anyone got a place or know someone? would be appreciated

Incorrect... When I use to work at a muffler shop we refused to work on cars often due to the fact that they did not have a catalytic converter. The shop can actually be fined for it.

 

every shop i've ever been to hasn't said anything to me. but that doesn't change the law.

 

i know my big als would take care of it, but i see you're in newport news...there is probably one up closer to you. they shouldnt have a problem doing that since they didnt install the test pipe.

 

tried the one off warwick in the denbigh area... they said no, i am going to try the one near main street i guess.... i was told auto muffler king by TE so.. we will see where it goes

 

yeah good luck, people wouldnt even touch my car cuz it was turbo, had to take it to like 4 diff exhaust shops

 

shit sucks eh? well i got auto muffler king to do it, 45 bucks total to put a muffler on.. fair i guess... they said hey its illegal... but as long as we dont mess with the cat we are fine /shrug... anyways if anyone has same prob i did... head up to auto muffler king on jeff... worked for me

 

Big Al's by main street... careful how you approach the situation tho... act cool and calm and let him know that it's wrong and illegal.... tell him you don't have the cash to change it now but you will change it later... tell him you'll sign a paper if neccessary to relieve them of fault or whatever.... just act like like you wanna do whatever neccesssary to get it put on... i drive a 2003 gti... i just got a whole aftermarket exhaust put on over there and i don't have a catalyctic converter... just don't go over there acting like a dumbass and you'll be straight
