Default nissan Question

ok, i was looking at the 240sx and had a question or 2.

What is the best engine the 2.0 or the 2.4??

which is better for turbo?

The body style that i like is the s14 but could you fit the s15 front on one?

Can you get a 6 speed (aftermarket) for the 2.0?

Thanks for the help.

the Sr20det and rb20det are motors that were meant for turbo's. The stock 2.4L does not have internals built for high psi levels. Some say that the Ka24de is a good motor for turbo, others say no. It is cheaper to do a swap of an sr or rb20 that is already turboed.

I believe their are conversion kit for s14 and s15.

That is COMPLETELY false. Perhaps if you're comparing stock power levels By far putting a turbo on the KA will be cheaper. Why you ask, because getting the SR to any decent power level requires the added cost of the swap. You basically have to buy the same components for either engine so it will always be the cost of Part X, Part Y AND the swap whe dealing with the SR. Using the KA as the base only requires Part X and Part Y.

Which one is better can be debated on both sides until you're blue in the face. Both motors have their strengths and weaknesses.

You can put the S15 front on any car (both the S13 and S14) but IMO it doesn't look right, the lines for the S15 aren't the same for either car and it ends up looking no better than a Honda that has a S14 front. (I'm not bashing the S15 front, just the S15 front on anything but the S15)

This might help with the S15 conversion although their prices tend to be a little on the high side: http://www.jspec.com/s15conversion.html

either are good for turbo. you have to be more carefull turboing the KA24DE 2.4 liter. ring lands are a little on the small side.

The sr can handle 450rwhp easy on the stock block(when tuned RIGHT)

You can get S15 front end on the S14. conversions are expensive.

You can get a 6speed for the 2.0. have to get the S15 motor to get it. unless you are talking about a quaiffe or HKS tranny, which is 25,000 entry price and full sequential

what are your goals thus far?

You can get a Holinger for the low low bargin basement price of $16,000 Then again that's only for the Skyline AFAIK

Hewland will make you one starting at about $20,000. According to Quaife their sequential tranny is only about $11,000. What a steal!

Just to toss out some fairly useless information ... the hydraulically controlled transmissions used in the Subaru rally cars costs about $70,000 and can shift from 1st to 6th (hitting each gear) and back again faster than you can shift from 1st to 2nd.

I disagree; I like the S15 front clip on the late model S14's. Too bad nobody's done the work it takes to legalize S15's in the US, or there'd be one sitting in my garage right now.
