New production car speed record: 255mph
Borrowed from another forum:
Today, 9-13-07, the WA, USA company SSC (Shelby SuperCars) achieved a two-way average speed of 255 mph, beating Bugatti's recorded top speed by approx 2 mph.
From the companies website: http://www.shelbysupercars.com/press.php#official
How do they consider this a "production" car?
According to this , only 25 Aeros will ever be produced...and only some of these as "Ultimate" Aeros.

Dumb. It's definitely not a production car and there's no way it'll ever be as consistently fast as the Veyron.
I do love the fact that a 71 year old dude was driving 257mph, though.

I wish someone would build something that is produced in a larger quantity.... ie more than a few hundred, that could go that fast. I'm sick of all of these "production cars" that less than 100 are produced. I know its ultra rare and all of that, but I think it takes away from the production car speed record when there are only 25 of them. I almost wish the next corvette or a mass produced Ferrari would get it or something.
