Default NA Build : What block

Im going to build a bottom end for my coupe i would like to make 220 whp is the goal but making 200 whp would be fine. What block would be most reliable to go with my b16 head? b20,gsr, ls?

I am a very big fan of the b16 head on a gsr block. I loved mine and it held together VERY well. went 13.2 in a da on slicks

The LS block would be better, because the displacement is a little bigger than the GSR. The LS is slightly bigger than a 1.8L and the GSR is slightly smaller. You may get a a little more power out of the LS block.

the gsr has oil squirters which is very good to have (not if you plan to make a shit-tun of power). And they have a secondary "girdle" which will REALLY help out at high rpms. And if you put some good work into the head you can take it up stairs pretty safe.
I had;
port-polished b16 head
dual valve springs, type r cams, skunk 2 intake manifold, arp head studs, high compresson head gasket.
factory spec bottom end rebuild, light flywheel, stage 2 clutch, mugen chipped ECU with vtec at 4200 and no rev-limiter and bolt ons. I put 187 whp and the power band didn't drop off. i cut out after 11k because I was scared to blow the bitch up.

type r cams I dont think can give you 220whp

I would use a b16 head with a b20 bottom end and build the head/block. Use high compression pistons/rods, and get some good cams/build the head along with a header,intake manifold,intake,exhaust and a good tune.
