My car is officialy dead...
Ok..so i was driving my 1990 supra turbo to work this morning when i heard a knocking noise coming from my engine....but no warning light or check engine light came on....so i just kept on going (stupid) thinking i can make it to work...then it just basically died...it started vibrating really bad and stuff so i pulled over...called a tow truck and got a ride from my mom to work....so after work i went to my mechanic who is a good friend of mine and he told me my engine is blown with no way of recovering it....so i was wondering...should i get a new engine or just sell it as is because i still needs some body work done to it? input and suggestions appreciated
knocking noise means you have rod knock. btw 7m's are not POS engines, its the owners. When properly maintained the engine will last forever. Of course they wont produce as much HP as a 2jz engine would but still has plenty of potential.
As far as your car goes, all you will prob need is to fix the bottom end up. Tear the engine apart and see what damage occured and go from there. If you do end up getting another used block go ahead and get machine work done and put a metal headgasket in with ARP head bolts.
