Default Might buy a BMW M3, advice wanted

Today I looked at a 1999 BMW M3, black with 58,xxx miles WAY out in the country. The dealer wants ONLY $13,500 for it. I really loved this car, if anyone on here knows something about bmws, I need some realiable for college and wont break on me.

What do you guys think? Anything I should look for or be worried about?

thanks

when they do break... its exspensive. Other than that, they're a very sexy car.

You won't have much to worry about. The s52 is a pretty bulletproof motor. I worked on them a lot last summer, and never saw any with big problems. An e36 M3 is definitely a fun car man. If you have any questions about aftermarket or anything there are a few people on this board who really know whats up.

That is REALLY cheap that is the only thing that I would be worried about. Is it at a BMW stealer or an Independent dealer. Not much really to worry about they are pretty strong cars and take mods quite well. Most people look for Vaders which are seats as highly regarded option. If it is a indenpdent dealer ask them to have BMW certify it it will cost you like $350 but worth it for piece of mind if you are having to travel to get the car. Also, look on BIMMERFORUMS.COM or DTMPOWER.NET. If you have any other questions I have done some extensive research and might be able to help you just PM me.

the powertrain is solid ... but other electrical components will break... now the price is rather low for a '99 ... is it under a certified pre-owned warranty? if your not modding it, id get extended warranty... get it checked out by a mechanic and body shop, check the rear subframe... car fax wont tell you everything...

as far as I am aware there are no issues with the rear subframe other then a single bolt that can break. It can be fixed for 149 dollars or I drilled mine out and put in a 1/2 grade 8 bolt with an all metal lock nut. That is not a big issue to me.... I am wondering what electronics are weak I am guessing you have vast knowledge of these issues.
Thanks
