True, electricity is typically generated by burning fossil fuels ultimately creating emissions, but why can't the emissions be purified prior to being vented into the atmosphere? If you ask me, it would be easier to regulate the emissions discharged out of a couple hundred power plants as opposed to a couple million cars.

...and im sure oil companies will give a fuck...as long as they are bringing in money, they arent going to pay to purify their plants...its just like oil companies now...they really dont give a shit. they want your money. and not to mention, when you start adding a couple million cars to the normal electricity output, you are going to have to add alot more factories.

I think the only way to make electric cars a true sucess is if we start using solar as our source for power. I'm not talking solar powered cars, Im saying solar power plants. With all of the emissions and what not coming from current power plants, it only seems smart to use what is "free" and readily available.
Granted, there is still a lot of research that needs to be put into solar, but still, if it can be utilized efficently, electric cars are definitely going to be the future.

+1 That or nuclear energy.

Nuclear still creates dangerous waste though. Maybe not CO2 from burning fossil fuels, but still dangerous.

Either way, it's a lot easier to produce clean energy in a minuscule number of power plants when comparing that to the number of cars.... and just think, if everyone in socal went electric, the smog would move out of beautiful california and into Texas, Nevada, Oregon, etc where nobody important lives anyway

Yeah, it makes nuclear waste, but in all honesty, close to 99% of what we bury now can be reprocessed and thrown right back in. Theres a lot more energy we can harness than is admitted.

lets just strap a bunch of bottle rockets to our trunks...light them off all at once...and let that make our cars move. haha

my personal opinion, is that as long as companies are making bank for the oil they supply, its not going to change. the vast majority of congress is lobbied my oil companies. its all about the money. solar power would be a much better resource, but it will be cheaper. an infinite source of something doesnt make well for buisness. itd be like someone charging you for air. with oil, its supply and demand...they control the supply, they control the demand. and +1 to the nuclear waste being an issue. Id rather burn fossil fuel then see a bunch of nuclear waste barrels floating in the ocean. You cant destroy nuclear waste, thats why they either drop it in the deepest parts of the oceans, or bury it as far down as they can go. Regardless, it has a way of finding its way back up to us, because most of the barrels eventually crack and leak. Im for segways.

The problem is that oil is a non-renewable resource that will probably be depleted within our lifetime. Necessity will eventually force a change in infrastructure whether the oil companies want it or not.

not in our lifetime man. you think we'd be paying 3.** dollars a gallon if we were about to run out? and im well aware that fossil fuels are not renewable. oil companies are going to push it to the limit before we run out of gas. and if you do some research, you will find that the hydrogen powered design was bought out by most oil companies. your best bet for the future of cars is a mix between gas and ethanol, or hydrogen. hydrogen power is something you can make in a lab, and the only emission is water. and seeing how the oild companies already bought that patent, id say youre looking at a hydrogen powered future.
