kit car emissions
so my dad and I are building a kit car. We currently have a 302 cu 5.0L mustang motor and are considering putting GT-40 Turbo Swirl Aluminum heads, hopefully X-303 cams, and possibly a GT-40 Intake Manifold. What are the rules on emissions for kit cars? If anybody knows I'd be more than happy to know. I believe the car is a replica of a 1960s car if that makes any difference. Thanks
I always thought factory five and other major kit cars came with a vin etched into a part of the chassis that you use when you register it...i've only looked into this a little bit though, i was hoping to scrounge up the money for a cobra with a hemi engine in it...that's years down the road though
When building a kit car that is a replica of a older car; lets say a 65 AC Cobra, the kit car will be registered as a 1965 car. In 1965 there were no emissions so the kit car doesnt have to have emissions.
Ideally no one would give a shit about emissions because there are so few kit cars on the road. I think I remember reading the same as what domesticrice said.
This sounds like a cool project, good luck with it.

there wouldn't be compatibility issues since it's a kit car...the only ford part i would allow in it would be the rear end. That's years away though. I've seen all types of engines in them cobra kits.
sweet aight guys thats what i was thinking. Thanks. I was looking up the laws in VA and it said that if they dont have emissions for the vehicle it doesnt hafta pass them. Well thanks for the help ,thats what i wanted to hear
