I'm paying $1500/6months now with my firebird > oh im 18 with 0 tickets. When I turn 19 it'll drop a little..

And I think buying a 3g rx7 would be one of the dumbest ideas as a "going off to college" car.

If you think the insurance is alot on it, wait till you start HAVING to fix things.

RX7's aren't the best college car. You want reliability and gas mileage.

Reliability and gas mileage aren't the FD's strong points.

on that note maybe a honda insight would be the way to go...u can get 80 mpg...fill the gas once a month and u still have money left over for 2 for $1 student food snack packs

RX7's are just full time cars. You need to have the time to put into them. When I was only 20, with a fairly clean driving record, I was paying less than $1200 a year for full coverage on my 3rd gen.
With a 93 RX7 R1, 91 RX7 T2, 72 Cutlass 350 and a Chrysler Cirrus I only pay $150 even a month. I'm married and 23 now, but that's the only difference.

When you turn 21, some INS companies offer you a slight discount, as Progressive did for me this policy period because I turn 21 during it. I have two vehicles insured liability only, as I paid cash for both. 94 Taurus, 97 Bonneville.I also get a multi-car discount. I pay $155/mo total for both which isnt bad considering in the last 3 years I have gotten 3 moving violations.
