Insurance Companies - Recommendations *please*

I'm currently in the market for a new (used) car, as well as a new insurance company. Unfortunately, my driving record is less than perfect, so I would appreciate any and all help I could get in pointing me in the right direction.
Moving from a 4-door sedan to a 2-door sport coupe isn't exactly cheaper, insurance wise. However, I've never had a 2 door and definitely nothing sporty - *shrug* so why the hell not. Before I make the jump, I would like to get some quotes before I sell my current ride.
A few general details -
18 year old male driver
2 speeding tickets
suspended licence (3 months)
nothing within the past 6 months.
Again, any help or recommendations of any kind would be greatly appreciated. Being a broke college kid isn't exactly all its cut up to be.
Thanks,

Go with Geico...I only pay $75 a month and I drive an ITR with a speeding ticket and a VA reckless (speeding) ticket...with a $250 deductible. A 15 minute call could save you 15% or more on your car insurance...

I would suggest Geico too. Mine was like $50 a month (after several tickets) and only went up to $90 a month when I got my new car. Plus it might sound geeky, but Geico offers a "good student discount" so if you're in college with a certain GPA they'll charge you less. And as we all know, every penny counts.

Quotes vary from person to person, and even from week to week.
I will say that I had the state farm good student discount in college and they kept it on for 2 yrs after I graduated.
I have heard that progressive isnt bad, a friend with a not-so-great record has them and his rate isnt outrageous.
