Shocks Struts-check for leaks
TIres need to be 2/32 thread or better
Brakes 2/32 or better
Tie rods and ball joints cant have play
Motor mounts have to be good
All the lights need to work expect reverse you can remove the sockets and not have reverse lights but if the socket is there they have to work.
No tint or stickers on windsheild
exhaust can not leak
belts can not be cracked
Air bag light can not be on
Brake light can not be on
ABS light CAN be on

No, the inspection code reads that the wipers must be in good working condition. That's not verbatim or anything. In other words, as long as the wipers will clear the windshield, it'll pass and it's really left up to the inspector's discretion. I usually squirt the washers to see if the wipers will clear the window well enough to maintain visibility. If so, they pass. If not, they fail.

where do you people go? When i went, they checked my tires (passed them even with half inch gashes in the sidewall and worn completely down to the wear bars), and lights and wipers. thats it. oh, and they looked at my brakes and made sure i still had a smog pump.
