How to trade cars?

I've never traded cars with someone before, so im asking how does this work?

Do you just hand each other the title/keys and thats it?

is there supposed to be a contract made or anything else?

any help is appreciated thanks.

just sign the title over, thats all I had to do and then I took the title and everything to the new car to dmv and got my tags and went on my way.

I'd make a bill of sale for each car with a low price on it. Therefore, you have proof of the transaction and you'll pay less in taxes at the DMV.

If there is a lien on it, you have to contact the finanical company to see if you can trade cars- Tell them what it is and see what they say
