How much does 1" of a forged aluminum wheel barrel weigh?
Going back and forth on which size CCWs to order. A set of CCW's in the "big street" sizes fell through... guy sold the car complete. The big streets are 18x10 fronts w/ 18x11.5s out back. They typically come w/ 275s up front and 335s rear (Michelline's 335s are smallish so they fit nicely).
That said... I'm not buying tires and will be using the tires I have now which are 275/35/18s and 295/35/18s. I used to have these on my old CCWs which were 18x9.5 and 18x11s in slightly different offsets as the "big streets"; not nearly as much lip.
So... I'm wanting to keep the wheels as light as possible and thinking about getting 18x9.5s and 18x10.5s. Basically the "big street" setup but 1/2 less barrel on the inside up front and 1" less barrel on the inside out back. Stock Z06 wheels are 17x9.5 and 18x10.5 so the tires will fit 100% flush with no stretching.
I have no desire to have a big heavy set of wheels on the car as they noticably reduce performance. The reproduction Z06 wheels I have on the car now are about 6lbs per wheel heavier than OEM Z06 wheels and the difference is very easy to feel.
Here's a good picture of the "big street" sizes in full polish. So in short I'm considering ordering this setup but w/ narrower barrels on the inside to save weight.
Here's my old setup... the 295 is a hair stretched on the 11" wheel vs. the stock 10.5.
I could take it a step further and get CCW's race center which has holes in between the lug holes and outer bolt holes, but I prefer the cleaner look of the street center. Here' the race center.
