what does it mean when your Dash VIN and Title VIN match, but the VIN stamped on the firewall doesn't match the dash or title? do i own a car, or a dashboard in somebody elses? lol

uh, will i have to pay again? or maybe lose the car? if theres a chance they are going to eat me alive with fees or take the car as an illegal import or something, i would rather settle for what I have... but if they wont take it, i guess it would be worth it. but how do I go about that, just write down the firewall number and take it with me, or do I have to take the car there?

i really dont believe the guy i bought it from had any idea of this... but the dash vin is for a 1990 civic si, made in canada, the firewall vin is for a 1989 civic si made in japan ... is there any way to check out the vin's history's besides carfax and shit like that? or is dmv really the best way to go from the start?

if your gonna keep that car till it dies completely, i wouldnt worry about it. if your planing on selling it, i would think about taking it to DMV.

could it be that it was in a serious front end collision and the car was subject to having a new front end welded on?
