guys help me, d16 vs f22
okay im tired of my starter car (96 civic ex) and i saw this prelude for sale and its looking tempting. now i dont believe its the vtec prelude but the ad says 2.2 so from what ive read that tells me its the f22a1? (im not trying to claim to know everything or anything so dont fry me) but im curious what differences will be like as far as handling and what not is. id probably get a susp. kit if i got the prelude. im just so over my old auto civic. so heres the specs:
current: 96 honda civic ex, d16y8, sohc vtec, auto, 130000 miles, all stock
potential: 94 prelude, f22a1, 5 spd, 112000 miles, all stock
what do yall think about this, is it an upgrade?? oh and the f22 isnt vtec at all right? and is it faster than mine? and if you have any helpful info please share. thanks!

Preludes are heavy as shit. If its a 94 prelude, its the ugly body style. If I recall correctly, I think they should be H-series and the accords came F-series. You'd be better off keeping your 96 and modifying that.

no he is correct, and F22A1(same as my little brothers 94 prelude) is not vtec. F22B heads are vtec
Even F22A1 will walk all over a stock D16

I'm not sure about the F22 walking over a stock d16. I raced an Accord EX (2.2 sohc vtec) in my four door d16y7 non vtec for the hell of it and I was pulling away.

A F22B is the JDM prelude non-VTEC motor - it's a duel cam non-VTEC F22....F meaning it has iron sleeves factory.
I'd say get the 94 Prelude and put some JDM headlights on it and slam it on some wide/sick looking wheels. No one does that....not to mention Preludes are way nicer cars then Civics.
Heavy yes, slow yes, but you're talking about some FWD economy cars - you might as well go for one fewer people have if you're going to do anything to either of them.
