If she wanted to go into the military.... Why not go through the Officers program? She already has a degree, so she should be able to go that route.
She'll make alil more money for starters....
But she is pretty much at fault for this. She is the primary person on the loan and when she signed those papers, she agreed to take the fall for anything that happens.... It sucks, but thats how it works.

I wouldn't even sign for me best friend from high school. He was pissed, but he realized it was for the best when he tried to sell it....

Well like everyone said and to beat the horse, she learned a really hard lesson on co-signing. You're not just making scribbles of ink on paper, you're putting your financial credit on the line if the first person defaults, and thats why banks allow the loan to carry through. She needs to work with the bank, as much as thats going to suck. The bank can not sieze any other property other than whats listed under the lien/collateral. Aka, you can't default on a car and they sieze your house. Again, she needs to work with the bank to do her best to get this situation to NOT stain her credit, if it does, it will cost her thousands, yes thousands in everything from future loans to auto insurance. By law, the bank can only auction the car off for a maximum of whats left on the loan and fortunately for her after a quick rough check on NADA and KBB, a 911 in good condition is worth more than what was originally took out for a loan. (However, this may be false as you have no idea whats wrong with the car). Joining the military would probably not be the smartest. How much is she making now? It will cost the bank to go to collections/court costs, so providing she's willing to work with them, they would rather do that than go the other route.

This is just messed up!
If I were her, I would try to go into the Army with their Warrant Officer program. She will come in with a bonus and make pretty good money.
The only thing that might hurt her is the credit for security but they have waivers for everything.
Hope everything works out for her and that guy gets what he deserves.

Cosigner is stupid and just learned a very valuable lesson.
I feel bad for her, but dumb move.

I can guarantee you that the military will not want her since she already has a terrible financial problem.
Financial problems = no security clearance
