Default Got my new Kooks LT headers!

I knew they were comming in, but it was great to open the door and see that box sitting there . After pulling them out of the box and laying them out on the floor I think I spend my $1180.00 wisely. They're full stainless steel and the welds look beefy and clean (though I'm no weld expert). Only two cats... these will give a big kick in the butt over my stock '01 (4 cats) hardware. One thing... I thought they were 3" pipes all the way back to the cat back, but they're not. They step from 3" to 2.5" just after the catted x-pipe. It won't make a difference to me as I have 2.5" sitngers and will get some electric cut-outs in the future. I added pics!

Nice! I wanna do SLP long tubes when I get back. I'm looking at $800 alone for the headers too. Those damn things sure aren't cheap!! She's gonna sound good once you get those on!!

What's the price on install?

When you going to dyno?

When you going to post the increase with the headers so I can decide if I want to buy the same ones?

Tom since I'm getting the ring job they'll be slipped while the heads and exhaust are all off under warranty. I'll basically tip the mechanic b/c he's very cool. Most LT header systems take 2-4 hrs to install and most shops charge $70 per hour. SO around $300. The problem is that the Kooks are designed so that they have equal primary tubs thus making the install more involved. You have to remove the starter and jack each side of the motor up to get them to slide in. It takes 5-6 hrs to install these. If I wasn't getting the ring job I'd do them next weekend with a buddy of mine. I'm in the process of making the re-ring appt and after I get that done and let the rings seat I'm going straight to the dyno.

Brock FYI Kooks makes great mustang headers too. Make sure which ever ones you get that they're stainless steel

go with grade 8 locking header bolts and a good exhaust manifold and collector gasket. the locking header bolts might need to be re-torqued once but theyre good. youre also gonna need to extend your o2 sensor wires and get some sims for the rear 2 o2 sensors. most people suggest buying o2 sensor extenders but you can just cut and solder in an extension. its recommended you do it on the wiring harness side since the o2 sensor's wires supposedly have some special shit in them.

nice

I'll look into the bolts, but the kit comes with all the necessary gaskets. Also, the kooks utilize all four stock 02 sensors in the stock locations. As far as I know there's no extensions of sims needed. Now with the LGM headers there's only 2/4 sensors used and the fronts are moved to the back holes. Thus, sims are needed for the two not in use as are extensions.

Glad to see you got them dude.
I thought those headers came with all the O2 sensor holes ?
Looks like Mike will have fun putting those on.
Ill be watching him do it most likely.
