Synthetic. But when the car was made in 94, synthetics were not as widely used and I'd assume they were calling for those intervals with regular oil.

You should take a sample of the oil you take out at 3k and send it to Blackstone labs for an actual oil analysis... they'll send you back a detailed report and tell you how your motor is wearing and how much longer you could have actually gone. 20w-50 regular oil every 3000miles with oem mitsu filter keeps my engine happy.
