Going for it.... 15,000 mile oil change interval.
3000 miles is old news... been following the oil life monitor in my Z06 for years. It usually tells me to change the oil at 7-8k. I follow this unless I have a tack event... if that's the case I change it before the event if the oil has over 3000 miles.
On Friday I put mobil 1 5w30 Extended Performance and an extended service interval Mobil 1 filter in the truck. Set my trip odometer, resent my oil life monitor, and them left for VIR Saturday AM.
From reading on the Colorado/Canyon forum I think the Oil Life monitor will probably go off at 9 or 10k, but I'll ignore
Apparently Porsche and BMW warranty their oil changes at 15k intervals.
Some FAQs from Mobil

Anyone else doing this? I find that so many people stil have "3000" miles ingraned into theair heads.

Upon what driving conditions are these performance claims based? Normal or severe driving conditions?
These claims relate to all typical consumer driving conditions, excluding those mentioned below. In other words, if you drive under normal conditions and use Mobil 1 Extended Performance in your vehicle, the oil is guaranteed to protect your engine for 15,000 miles. We also recommend that drivers consult their owner’s manual while their vehicle is under warranty, and follow the guidelines set forth there. Additionally, we recommend that if consumers drive routinely in severe conditions that they follow the oil change interval recommended in their owner's manual for severe conditions. We define "severe conditions" as:
1. racing or commercial applications;
2. frequent towing or hauling;
3. extremely dusty or dirty conditions; or
4. excessive idling.

I'd be curious to know how broke-down the oil actually becomes after 15k miles.
I'd probably still change it at 7-8k miles when the information center tells me to.

^ We'll see how I feel when that time comes. Synthetic oil dosn't acutally "break down" the additive packages get used up and it can start getting dirty, but that's what your oil filter is for.
Amsoil has been advertising 25k (or 1 year) intervals for a long long time. Acttually I'll probbaly hit a year before I put 15k on the truck.

Changing mine @ 3000 miles gives me a peace of mind. Plus, I turbo'd a NA power car.

Acura says change the oil every 7,500 miles for my Integra. 3000 does get beaten into people's heads like you said. If I had a turbo'd motor, I would go 2500-3000.

I'd agree w/ your turbo car... heat is the enemy of oil... and a turbo gets the oil very hot (I assume).
You should take a sample of the oil you take out at 3k and send it to Blackstone labs for an actual oil analysis... they'll send you back a detailed report and tell you how your motor is wearing and how much longer you could have actually gone.
