Re: GM flat out lies
ok, so you put parts on ur car that alter mpg? its a big difference to lie about ur gas pedal sticking to the floor mat after the car is made than to lie about mpg on a car that hasnt even came out yet.

Re: GM flat out lies
Toyota never lied about the gas pedals; from whats being investigated its all been operator error. Second, these cars are subsidized out the ass via the taxpayer (aka you). A TDI jetta gets better gas mileage than this car and is about half the price.

This has made me raff.... +1.
Point I was trying to make is.... this corporate lying shit is happening in every company everywhere. You cant tell me Toyota didnt suspect SOMETHING was wrong with their cars other than just "operating error". And there are other examples.
This GM thing? This is shamefully getting to be the norm for these companies now. Its pretty fuking sad....

Seriously though, this could be really bad for GM. They're going to lose a lot of confidence if this is all true. They generated a lot of hype with the 230mpg claims. The final product is more complex and performs worse than both Honda and Toyota's most economical hybrids. This is kind of the anti-GM thing to do. They used to be able to point at Honda and laugh at them using tiny complex engines that get no better mileage than a Corvette's big, powerful, and simple V8. Now GM is the one with the seriously complicated engine that's getting outperformed. Maybe this is just another sign that we should be working on getting back to the basics rather than continuing to to pile on unproven technology.
I still don't understand why nobody has build a diesel/electric series hybrid.
